Ice Cube’s Tour Bus Damaged by Fire in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Rapper and actor Ice Cube reassured fans that he and his touring crew are safe after a fire broke out on the exterior of his charter bus in Portland earlier this week.

Fire Breaks Out After Moda Center Performance

The incident happened shortly after Ice Cube’s performance at the Moda Center on Monday night. According to Portland Fire and Rescue, crews responded the following day when the front passenger-side tire of a charter bus caught fire near Southwest Oak Street and Southwest Broadway.

Rick Graves, a spokesperson for Portland Fire and Rescue, confirmed that firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and then used fans to ventilate smoke from inside the bus.

Investigation Underway

Officials say the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. Graves noted he was not initially aware of who was using the vehicle at the time, though it was later confirmed that the bus was part of Ice Cube’s tour transportation.

No injuries were reported, and the fire did not spread beyond the bus. Damage appeared to be limited to the front tire area, thanks to the rapid response of firefighters on the scene.

Ice Cube Responds

Following the incident, Ice Cube released a statement addressing both the situation and the safety of his crew.

“I’m not taking this incident as a personal attack,” the rapper said. “A coward like that would burn anybody’s property that was out there at the time.”

A representative for Ice Cube also confirmed to KOIN 6 News that the artist and his team were unharmed.

Community and Tour Impact

The fire incident did not cause delays in Ice Cube’s scheduled performances. Fans who attended the Moda Center show described the night as energetic and powerful, with no indication of issues until after the concert concluded.

Authorities emphasized that while the cause remains unknown, there is no immediate evidence linking the fire to targeted vandalism. Investigators are reviewing possible mechanical issues or accidental ignition as potential explanations.

A Reminder of Tour Risks

Incidents like this highlight the challenges and risks that artists face while on the road. Touring often involves constant travel, tight schedules, and reliance on chartered vehicles, which can sometimes present unexpected hazards.

For Ice Cube, the Portland fire served as a disruption but not a deterrent. His statement underscored resilience, assuring fans that the show — and the tour — will go on.
