Halloween Fun and Festive Events Fill the Portland-Area Calendar

The Halloween season is here, and communities across the Canby, Molalla, Aurora, and Hubbard areas are buzzing with family-friendly fun, spooky thrills, and plenty of local events to keep everyone entertained through the holidays. From haunted trails to cozy tea gatherings, here’s a guide to the best happenings in the coming weeks.


Community and Business Gatherings

Canby Chamber’s October Social at The Book Nook
The Canby Area Chamber of Commerce will host its October Canby After Hours event at The Book Nook on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Attendees can enjoy refreshments, networking, and a welcoming community environment while supporting this beloved local bookstore.


Spooky Season Thrills and Halloween Fun

Horror Trivia Night at FOB Taproom – Canby
Horror fans can test their knowledge at FOB Taproom’s Horror Movie Trivia Night on Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The event promises spooky questions, great drinks, and Halloween-themed prizes.

Trick-or-Treat in Downtown Molalla and Canby
On Friday, Oct. 31, both downtown Molalla and Canby will transform into trick-or-treat havens for families. Molalla’s event runs from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., while Canby’s downtown businesses will hand out treats from 3 to 6 p.m.

Nightmare on Elwood Returns – Colton
For those seeking a scare, Nightmare on Elwood will once again bring chills to Colton. The haunted trail at Hwy. 211 and Elwood Road opens Halloween night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is free, and candy will be distributed to visitors.

Milburn’s Haunted Manor – Hubbard
The region’s most famous haunt, Milburn’s Haunted Manor, is open Fridays through Sundays through October, plus a Halloween-eve performance on Oct. 30. Ranked the top haunted house for four years, it features multiple haunts, a pumpkin patch, food, drinks, and more.


Family Festivals and Local Fun

Fir Point Farms Harvest Festival – Aurora
Running every weekend in October, Fir Point Farms’ Harvest Festival offers six acres of fall fun. Activities include a corn maze, hayrides, pumpkin patch, paintball, bounce houses, petting zoo, and plenty of delicious local treats—from cider donuts to homemade cinnamon rolls.

Trunk or Treat at Canby Christian Church
Families can enjoy a safe and cheerful Trunk or Treat on Friday, Oct. 31, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The event includes games, snacks, and candy for all ages.

Dibble House Haunted Museum – Molalla
For younger kids, the Molalla Area Historical Society will host a friendly haunted house Oct. 30–31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the historic Dibble House. The ghosts are friendly, and there will be games and treats in Ivor Davies Hall. Admission is free, with donations welcomed.


Learning, Music, and Creativity

Become a Paleontologist – Canby Public Library
On Wednesday, Nov. 5, OMSI will host Prehistoric Dinosaurs in the library’s Maker Lab, turning students into fossil diggers. Two sessions (4–5 p.m. and 5:30–6:30 p.m.) are available with registration required.

Trent Beaver Live at Wild Hare – Canby
Award-winning singer-songwriter Trent Beaver performs at Wild Hare Saloon on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 7:45 p.m., bringing soulful Americana and R&B vibes to town.

Twist Basket Workshop – Molalla Library
Learn paper twist basket techniques with Celeste Whitewolf on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. Space is limited, so registration is required.


Holiday Markets and Seasonal Events

Country Christmas Bazaar – Canby
The Clackamas County Event Center will host the Country Christmas Bazaar Nov. 9–15, featuring crafts, gifts, and local vendors. Admission is free Monday through Saturday.

Aurora Vineyards Networking – Nov. 18
Canby Chamber’s After Hours continues with an evening at Aurora Vineyards on Nov. 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., combining networking with scenic views.

Monaz Holiday Market – Molalla
The Monaz Market returns Saturday, Nov. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Molalla Nazarene Church, offering handmade crafts, gifts, and holiday décor.

Winter Fair & Holiday Market – Canby
From Nov. 28 through Dec. 20, the Clackamas County Winter Fair will light up the fairgrounds with 200,000 lights, Santa visits, carolers, and festive vendors.


Christmas Cheer and Local Traditions

Cookies & Cocoa with Santa – Nov. 29
Enjoy hot cocoa, crafts, and Santa photos at the Clackamas County Event Center from 2 to 5 p.m. The event is free for all ages.

Light Up the Night – Dec. 5, Canby
Canby’s annual Light Up the Night parade and tree lighting will take place Friday, Dec. 5, at Wait Park. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make a grand entrance with the Canby Fire District.

Christmas in Molalla – Dec. 6
Molalla’s tree lighting and light parade begin at 4 p.m. with music, cocoa, and photo ops with Santa.

Aurora Colony Flea Market & Celebration Tea – Dec. 6–7
A two-day market featuring vendors, tea services, and a live Dickens performance at 2 p.m. each day. Advance tea reservations are recommended.

Christmas in Canby – Dec. 6
Musicians Michael Allen Harrison and Julianne Johnson perform holiday favorites at the Canby Pioneer Chapel.

Canby Grove Cookie Bake – Dec. 12–14
Join the annual Canby Grove Cookie Bake to make holiday treats with homemade dough. Pre-registration is required at canbygrove.com/lets-bake.


Ongoing Community Activities

Canby Farmers Market runs Saturdays through October, offering local produce, crafts, and live music.
Tabletop Gaming continues at Canby Public Library the second and fourth Saturdays each month for ages 13–18.
Teen Dungeons & Dragons meets monthly at Molalla Library, while Canby Library hosts D&D twice monthly.
