Portland, OR – A recent community patrol in downtown Portland led to the arrest of a man allegedly using drugs in public, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
Patrol Led by Command Staff
Captain Matt Jordan, Sergeant Gay, Deputy McCune, and Deputy Azevedo were conducting an active patrol near Northwest 6th Avenue and Northwest Hoyt Street in the Old Town district when they encountered the suspect. The patrol was part of a leadership initiative that places command staff alongside frontline deputies to strengthen engagement and visibility within the community.
Arrest and Discovery
During the encounter, deputies detained the man without incident. While taking him into custody, officers discovered a small kitten hidden inside the man’s coat. The MCSO confirmed that the kitten was safely handed over to a trusted caretaker.
