PORTLAND, Ore. — A man using a motorized mobility scooter was hospitalized after being struck by a car in Milwaukie on Tuesday morning, according to local law enforcement.
The Milwaukie Police Department responded to the crash at the intersection of SE 42nd Avenue and Harrison Street around 8:10 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found the injured man lying in the crosswalk. He was bleeding from the head but remained conscious and breathing, authorities said.
According to police, the man had been crossing the street in his motorized scooter when a car failed to stop, striking him in the crosswalk. Emergency responders provided medical assistance at the scene before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and stayed at the scene, cooperating with investigators. Police cited the driver for failing to stop and remain stopped for a pedestrian, a violation of Oregon’s traffic safety laws.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, including possible contributing factors such as visibility, speed, and right-of-way.
