Multnomah County, OR – Police Alert: Transit Sweep Nets 11 Arrests

PORTLAND, Ore. — A late-night public safety operation conducted by the TriMet Transit Police Division on October 29 led to 11 arrests and multiple vehicle tows in the Delta Park and Hayden Island area, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

The three-hour mission aimed to enhance safety around the end of the MAX Yellow Line and nearby bus stops, where officers have been increasing their late-night patrols due to ongoing safety concerns. Law enforcement officials said the targeted operation was part of a coordinated effort to ensure a secure environment for both riders and residents in the surrounding communities.

During the sweep, officers served over a dozen warrants and towed two vehicles for various violations. The Multnomah County Detention Center played a vital role in the mission by processing arrests swiftly, allowing officers to resume field operations more efficiently.

Sheriff’s Office officials gave special recognition to Corrections Deputies Fray, Hill, Mendoza, and Maxwell for their outstanding support and quick coordination throughout the night. Their teamwork helped streamline the operation and maintain safety during the arrests.

Authorities emphasized that these sweeps are part of an ongoing initiative to strengthen public safety across Portland’s transit network, particularly during nighttime hours when incidents tend to increase. The TriMet Transit Police and local sheriff’s deputies plan to continue similar patrols and operations in other high-traffic areas to deter crime, enforce warrants, and ensure the public feels safe while using public transportation.

Officials also encouraged community members to report suspicious behavior and cooperate with officers during safety missions. The Sheriff’s Office reaffirmed its commitment to protecting riders, transit workers, and nearby neighborhoods, highlighting that these operations play a key role in building public trust and maintaining order in Multnomah County’s transit corridors.
