PORTLAND, Ore. — A Multnomah County grand jury has indicted three men on attempted murder and multiple assault charges following a violent attack that left a TriMet bus passenger seriously injured earlier this month.
According to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, the suspects — 28-year-old Greffy Tom, his 27-year-old brother, Rinson Tom, and 33-year-old Audric Yesiki — were each charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-, second-, and third-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, third-degree escape, and interfering with public transportation.
Court records show that Yesiki faces an additional charge of strangulation in connection with the alleged attack on a 50-year-old commuter on October 15. All three men have pleaded not guilty.

The incident reportedly began around 9 p.m. at Southeast Stark Street and 142nd Avenue in Portland, when the three suspects attempted to board a TriMet bus. A witness told investigators that one of the men was smoking, prompting the bus driver to inform them that smoking was not permitted. Another man — whom the driver described as appearing intoxicated — told his companions to get on the bus anyway.
As the situation escalated, another passenger, frustrated by the delay, reportedly told the men to step off the bus so it could continue its route. Court documents allege that the confrontation quickly turned violent.
The three suspects allegedly punched the victim repeatedly until he collapsed, then continued to kick and stomp on his face and hands. Witnesses and security footage reportedly show Rinson Tom using a handrail to gain leverage while stomping on the victim’s head, and Yesiki strangling the man during the attack.
The victim sustained severe injuries, including a brain bleed, fractures in both eye sockets, a broken nose, and multiple facial lacerations, according to court records.
After the assault, the suspects allegedly walked away, leaving the victim unconscious on the ground. Portland Police and TriMet Transit Police — operated by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office — located the men nearby and took them into custody shortly after.
During police interviews, each suspect offered differing accounts of what happened. Greffy Tom reportedly claimed that he, not the victim, was assaulted and said he would apologize if he saw the man again. Rinson Tom told investigators he only got involved after trying to stop Yesiki, while Yesiki denied striking the man and claimed the victim had initiated the confrontation.
However, police noted visible evidence contradicting their statements. When officers pointed out a spot of blood on Yesiki’s pants, he reportedly appeared surprised and offered no explanation for it.
Court records also reveal that two of the suspects have prior criminal histories. Greffy Tom was previously convicted of third-degree assault, DUII, and providing false information to police. Yesiki faces pending assault and mischief charges from an August case and has prior convictions for third-degree assault, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct.
The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case. The three men remain in custody pending further court proceedings. The victim’s current condition has not been publicly released.
