PORTLAND, Ore. — Conservative influencer Nick Sortor is threatening to sue the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) following his arrest outside the ICE facility in South Portland earlier this month. Represented by Angus Lee Law Firm, PLLC, Sortor’s legal team issued a Notice of Preservation to PPB on Oct. 16, demanding that all records related to his arrest and “related materials” be preserved.
In a post on X, Sortor declared: “My legal team has officially notified the Portland Police Bureau that federal civil rights litigation may be forthcoming following my wrongful arrest. We’re demanding ALL internal records pertaining to their handling of Antifa. The city of Portland WILL be exposed, and innocent civilians will soon be freed from the hell they’re being put through from the Antifa-infiltrated police department.”
The notice of preservation seeks that PPB save all “data, documents and communications” concerning Sortor’s arrest and the circumstances surrounding it. It follows a prior email from his law firm to Police Chief Bob Day, which requested a formal apology to Sortor and called for an internal investigation into the handling of his arrest.

Sortor was arrested on Oct. 2 for disorderly conduct during a demonstration outside the ICE facility. However, Multnomah County District Attorney Nathan Vasquez declined to file charges, concluding that the evidence did not meet the standard of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
In an interview with KATU, Sortor expressed frustration at both his arrest and public comments from PPB leadership. “I should never have been arrested. I should never have been put through the ringer. And I shouldn’t have the chief of police on TV slandering me during the day. Instead, he should be focused on pulling the rot out of this police department. And maybe this will make him think twice about, I don’t know, the direction of the department,” he said.
PPB responded to Sortor’s claims by emphasizing its commitment to impartial law enforcement. A bureau spokesperson stated: “Our enforcement actions are guided solely by law and probable cause, not by politics or personal characteristics. We are committed to upholding the rule of law equally and fairly, regardless of political affiliation, gender, age, race, or economic status.”
The situation underscores ongoing tensions surrounding protests at Portland’s ICE facility, which have drawn both local and national attention in recent months. Sortor’s threatened legal action may involve federal civil rights litigation, with his legal team signaling that it could expose internal practices and communications within the police department.
The case also highlights broader debates about police enforcement, free speech, and protest activity in Portland, as well as questions about accountability and public trust in law enforcement. Sortor’s attorneys are now seeking to ensure that all relevant records are preserved before any potential legal proceedings move forward.
