Where to Find ‘No Kings’ Protests in Oregon This Saturday

Nationwide Demonstrations Return

Thousands of demonstrators are expected to take part in another round of “No Kings” protests this Saturday, October 18, 2025. The coordinated movement, which began earlier this year, is staging over 60 planned events across Oregon — from the coast to central and eastern parts of the state.

The nationwide day of protest will include gatherings in nearly every major Oregon city, with organizers emphasizing peaceful demonstrations. “No Kings” has become one of the largest recurring political movements of the year, calling for democratic unity and opposing what organizers describe as “authoritarian-style governance.”

Portland Prepares for Large Turnout

In June, Oregon’s first “No Kings” protest drew tens of thousands of people, including more than 50,000 participants in Portland alone. That earlier demonstration coincided with a major military parade in Washington, D.C., organized by the Trump administration.

This time, Portland police are preparing for another significant turnout. Authorities say they’re coordinating with Oregon State Police and local agencies to maintain public safety and ensure the protests remain lawful. Fire and medical crews will also be stationed throughout the downtown area to assist if needed.

The city’s central protest will be held at Waterfront Park near the Battleship Memorial from 12–4 p.m. Additional marches are scheduled across neighborhoods and nearby suburbs throughout the day.

The Message Behind “No Kings”

Organizers say the movement is a response to policies of former President Donald Trump, which they argue have harmed ordinary Americans and weakened democratic norms.

“We’re standing for unity and democracy,” one organizer said. “This movement is about rejecting authoritarianism and calling for accountability through nonviolent action.”

However, critics — including House Speaker Mike Johnson — have called the demonstrations divisive. Johnson described them as “hate America protests,” suggesting they align with what he called “the pro-Hamas wing and ANTIFA people.”

Despite such remarks, “No Kings” organizers maintain that the rallies are peaceful and inclusive, emphasizing nonviolent de-escalation as a key principle for participants.

Community organizations are also deploying volunteer safety teams to help guide participants and prevent confrontations with counter-protesters.

A Nationwide Movement

Saturday’s events are part of a coordinated national effort, with “No Kings” protests scheduled in every U.S. state. Organizers hope the gatherings send a unified message about the importance of democracy and civic engagement ahead of the 2026 election cycle.

From small towns like Elkton and Veneta to major cities like Portland and Salem, Oregon is once again expected to play a major role in this growing grassroots movement.

As one organizer said:

“This isn’t about left or right — it’s about ensuring no one man is above the people.”
