PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Union Pacific train collided with a logging truck near Canby on Monday morning, prompting an emergency response and the closure of a major intersection, authorities confirmed.
Crash Occurred at Busy Intersection
According to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of South Barlow Road and Highway 99 East. Deputies said the logging truck had been traveling north on Barlow Road when it stopped at a red light.
While the truck was waiting, the railroad crossing arms suddenly activated. Trapped between the signal and other vehicles, the truck was unable to move forward or back in time to avoid the oncoming train.
