Clackamas crews worked for more than six hours to extinguish a fire that broke out at the Metro South Transfer Station in Oregon City this week.
Crews were called to the scene late Tuesday night and battled the blaze until 6 a.m. Wednesday, Clackamas Fire officials said.
The fire was isolated to one of the transfer station’s garbage pits, and firefighters were able to keep it from spreading.
Crews poured water on the blaze with several hose lines while using heavy equipment to dig out garbage and other debris and extinguish lingering hot spots.
No injuries were reported, and officials did not say whether there was damage to the transfer facility.
The scene was turned back over to Metro as of Wednesday morning.
