Clackamas Crews Contain Brush Fire in Beavercreek, Save Buildings and Livestock

Clackamas Fire crews saved two buildings and a flock of sheep after a brush fire broke out in Beavercreek Thursday afternoon.

The Clackamas Fire District received a report of a brush fire in the 24000 block of South Ridge Road at approximately 1:30 p.m.. Crews arrived to find two to three acres of grass burning with two buildings being threatened, one of which contained livestock.

Firefighters were able to divide and quickly control the rapidly spreading blaze, which grew to almost 4 acres at its peak.

All sheep were saved, along with both buildings, Clack Fire officials said.

The fire originated in an outside burn pit. The resident had lit some unwanted papers/debris and left the fire unattended.

Clackamas Fire reminds that the area is experiencing unseasonably high temperatures, low humidity, and increasing wind. Please be mindful of these conditions as you plan your Labor Day holiday weekend activities.

Clackamas County is currently under a red flag warning and complete burn ban, with only approved fire pits and ceremonial or warming fires allowed. Please use extreme caution when any type of burning is underway, keep a water source nearby and never leave fires unattended.
