Boys & Girls Aid Raises Over $45K at Annual Crab and Rib Dinner in Canby

Surf and turf returned in style this weekend, as the Cypress Branch Auxiliary of Boys & Girls Aid hosted its 21st annual Crab and Rib Dinner fundraiser at Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby.

Saturday’s event, which was back in person for the first time since 2019, included dinner, a silent auction, a golden ticket raffle and an inspiring program. The silent auction included over 80 items, ranging from date night packages to jewelry to art.

Attendees could also choose to purchase a golden ticket. Only 50 golden tickets were sold at $50 each, and the winners, Eileen and Norm Willis, received two round-trip tickets to anywhere Alaska Airlines flies.

A total of 165 attended the Crab and Rib Dinner, which raised more than $45,000 for the Portland-based nonprofit that supports foster children and families.

All proceeds go toward Boys & Girls Aid to support its services for Oregon youth and families, including foster care, adoption services, pregnancy counseling and shelter and housing services.

“The work and support of our Cypress Branch volunteers is remarkable,” said Suzan Huntington, Boys & Girls Aid president and CEO. “These ladies come together and make a real difference and impact on the lives of children in need.”

Lisa Willette of Cascade Hasson, Sotheby’s International Realty was the gold sponsor for the Crab and Rib Dinner. Bronze Sponsors included Rachael Nelson of Edward Jones, Jay Puppo of State Farm Insurance and the Riener Team of RE/MAX Equity Group.

This is Boys & Girls Aid’s first fundraising event of 2023 and will be followed by the first Foster Love Gala on May 5.

Boys & Girls Aid is a nonprofit founded in 1885 to ensure all children receive the support and guidance to succeed in life. It remains committed to ensuring every child grows up with a family of their own.

Its trauma-informed approach places children with trained and certified foster parents who can care for them long-term, reducing the number of placements a child moves through. Foster parents have access to regular training, relief care and 24/7 support.
