Both drivers were injured in a two-vehicle, head-on collision on Highway 99E south of Gervais Wednesday.
The crash was reported near the intersection of 99E and Concomly Road NE at approximately 7:54 p.m. Nov. 13.
According to the preliminary investigation by Oregon State Police, 56-year-old Nicolas Martinez-Rivera, of Woodburn, was driving a silver 2002 GMC Envoy northbound on 99E, when he veered into the southbound lanes for unknown reasons. Investigators say the Envoy collided head-on with a 2009 Ford F-150 pickup operated by 26-year-old Brooks resident Kaleefa Chernishoff.
Chernishoff suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Salem Hospital. Martinez-Rivera suffered critical injuries and was transported by air to Legacy Emmanuel in Portland.
OSP was assisted by the Woodburn Fire District and ODOT.
