Tualatin Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash near Aurora

The driver died in a single-vehicle crash on Ehlen Road NE west of Aurora Sunday night. Police say the crash occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Independence Day near La Luz Del Mundo church in northern Marion County.

A Canby Police Department sergeant was reportedly heading westbound on Ehlen Road when he spotted a 2007 Porsche 911, headed in the opposite direction at a high rate of speed.

The sergeant lost sight of the car as he was turning around to investigate. By the time he caught up with them, he was on the scene of a fiery crash, and witnesses had already stopped to attempt to help the occupants of the Porsche.

The Porsche had caught fire, which Canby police extinguished. The driver, later identified as 35-year-old Guy Reed, of Tualatin, was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts from medical personnel.

Reed’s passenger, Jenna Mansfield, 28, also from Tualatin, was transported to a Portland-area hospital for treatment of injuries that police described as non-life-threatening.

Police did not say what other factors may have contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Aurora Fire District, Canby Fire District, Canby Police Department, Marion County Medical Examiner’s Office, Marion County District Attorney’s Office, Marion County Public Works, and Oregon State Police for their assistance with this incident.
