Huh? Parking in downtown Canby has time limits?
If you didn’t know, you’re not alone. Most spaces do have time limits, with the majority of them in the downtown core being limited to 2 hours, though 10-hour spaces are available for employees and others who need them.
The limits were originally established in 2012, following the recommendations of a consulting firm hired by the city and input from downtown businesses.
However, the limits are not widely posted and are, apparently, not enforced. Until now, that is. On Wednesday, the City Council will consider a resolution that would change how parking is regulated downtown, including comprehensive signage and enforcement during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The plan also includes the implementation of a community engagement campaign, although it’s not yet clear all that this would entail.
The recommendations came out of an October 2018 Downtown Parking Task Force meeting which was held to address parking concerns and complaints the city received from downtown business and property owners.
