The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in a heartbreaking case: the theft of precious possessions from a 90-year-old Happy Valley man — who had packed them into his vehicle to prepare for evacuation.
The victim lives in the Town Center Terrace Apartments on SE Causey Avenue in Happy Valley, police say. In response to the Clackamas County wildfires, the man packed valuable possessions into his vehicle, but did not evacuate.
At an unknown time between Sept. 14 and 18, an unknown suspect or suspects entered the vehicle in the apartment complex’s parking lot and stole everything inside.
The victim — whom police described as “devastated” by the incident — told deputies that the items included wedding rings belonging to him and his late wife, a coin collection and jewelry.
Anyone with information that could help reunite this 90-year-old with his stolen property is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line by phone at 503-723-4949 or by using the online email form. Please reference CCSO Case No. 20-020295.
