Teen Arrested on Outstanding Theft Charges after Unauthorized Bus Ride

An 18-year-old former Canby High School student was arrested by Canby police this morning after boarding a bus bound for CHS and Baker Prairie with his siblings.

Students on the bus notified police, which met the bus at Canby High School and made the arrest without incident. The bus continued to Baker Prairie and safely delivered all students to school.

Bryan Saucedo Ibarra was arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft of services, according to a spokesman for the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

According to law enforcement, Ibarra dropped out of Canby High earlier this year.

“Basically, he got in an argument with his mom and wanted to leave, so he got on the bus when he had no right or reason to ride that bus,” said CCSO Criminalist and acting PIO Bryon O’Neil.

Canby School District is working with Canby Police Department on the investigation.

“We take an incident like this very seriously and will work alongside police to ensure all students continue to stay safe and have the support they need,” an email from the district read.
