Swan Island Kicks Off Shopping Season with Holiday Open House

Swan Island Dahlias may be more known — and deservedly so — for its world-renowned annual Dahlia Festival, but there’s another, smaller annual tradition that is almost as beloved: the Holiday Open House.

Unlike the Dahlia Festival, which is typically hosted over two weeks in late August and early September, the family-owned dahlia farm’s gift shop is open year-round.

But its traditional kick-off for the Christmas shopping season has been this open house, featuring special deals, new products, giveaways and other goodies.

This year’s sale is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21.

To ensure the safety of all of the store’s guests and employees, the number of those who are able to be inside the store at any one time will be limited this year, and shoppers are asked to make reservations online to secure your space.

Free reservations are through EventBrite or by calling the store directly at 1-800-410-6540. Check-in with staff when you arrive.

Swan Island will also be allowing walk-ins, the store says, but you may be asked to wait in your car until space opens up if you have not reserved a time slot.

Bring a new, unwrapped toy or two or more non-perishable food items and get an additional 20% off your entire purchase (donations benefit local families via The Canby Center).

And there’s more: Spend at least $50 (after discounts) and you’ll also take home a special goodie bag of hand-selected treasures, with an estimated value of over 40 bucks (while supplies last).

The Swan Island Dahlias Gift Shop is stocked with one-of-a-kind, handcrafted, Oregon- and American-made treasures. For more information, visit dahlias.com.
