Storm Resource Centers Open in Canby, Clackamas County

Resource centers have been set up in Canby and at several sites in Clackamas County, where community members who are still without power can warm up, charge their phones and medical devices and get food and other supplies needed to continue to survive without power.

The centers will also be providing warming stations, flashlights, snacks and more. Clackamas County representatives will also be on hand to answer questions and direct residents to additional resources to help their situation.

Officials remind that people without power most likely will not be able to access the internet, television or radio to receive information on resources or communicate their situation. Please check on your neighbors, friends and family without power to ensure know where to go for help.

“This has been in the worst power outage in 50 years, according to PGE,” Smith said. “Over 105,000 Clackamas County residents lost power.”

PGE has recruited mutual assistance workers from five western states and has mobilized 2,500 crews to get the juice flowing again. Late Wednesday, the utility predicted that 90% of those still without power would be back online by Friday.

Finally, ODOT has announced that Interstate 5 will be closed the Brooks/Gervais exit (263) to Canby/Hubbard (282A) from 11 p.m. Thursday to 3 a.m. Friday for PGE crews to perform emergency repair work on transmission lines and help restore power to Oregonians who lost power during the recent storm.

All traffic will be detoured via Highway 99E. Follow the detour signs, watch for crews at road closures, use caution in the area and expect delays.
