STEM Talk Goes Under the Sea at Clackamas Community College

Clackamas Community College will host a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Talk Jan. 23, noon-1 p.m.

Many vertebrate groups such as mammals and reptiles have weaponized skulls to offer defense against predators. Creatures under the sea also have evolved skulls for defense.

Thaddaeus Buser, a graduate student of Oregon State University’s department of fisheries and wildlife, will lead the STEM Talk, which focuses on cranial weaponry of aquatic vertebrate.

The discussion will emphasize the shape and utility of spines in sculpin fish – a type of bottom-dwelling fish.

The STEM Talk will take place in McLoughlin Hall on the Oregon City campus, 19600 Molalla Ave. Guests are invited to a meet and greet at 11:30 a.m. before the discussion begins.

This event is free and open to the public.
