State Allocates Funds for Wildfire Recovery in Estacada

The Oregon Legislature on Thursday passed a budget appropriations bill allocating more than $3.5 million in state general funds to the recovery efforts from the 2020 wildfires, including a sizable earmark for the City of Estacada.

Among appropriations for the Idanha-Detroit Rural Fire Protection and several communities in the Santiam Canyon, House Bill 5042 included $220,000 for Estacada in the city’s ongoing efforts to rebuild from the ravages of the massive Riverside Fire in Clackamas County.

“This is a great first step for getting our community back on their feet,” Senator Bill Kennemer, R-Canby, said in a statement. “I will continue to work hard to get more funding to help our families recover and rebuild.”

HB 5042 cleared the Senate on a 23-5 vote Thursday and now heads to the governor’s desk for her signature.
