Oregon Secretary of State Dennis Richardson shared a video on YouTube last week, updating supporters and constituents regarding his health. Richardson announced in June that he had been diagnosed with a “small, cancerous” brain tumor.
Richardson says the treatment has tired him, but that he and his team are “not slowing down.” He says the most challenging part of the ordeal has been the effect it has had on his speech. At times, it is difficult for him to articulate what he wants to say, even though he’s thinking clearly.
“It’s frustrating for me when my speech doesn’t keep up with my mind,” he says. “But I’m sure glad it isn’t the other way around.”
Richardson is the only Republican holding a statewide office in Oregon.
