‘Sad Day For Everyone’: Child Dies After Being Found in Creek Near Mulino Home

A Molalla-area child who had been reported missing Tuesday died after being found unresponsive in a creek near their home in unincorporated Clackamas County, officials said.

Officials did not publicly identify the child. Their age and gender have also not been released as of Wednesday afternoon.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and Molalla police received reports of a missing child from a home in the 14000 block of South Union Mills Road near Mulino at about 11:30 a.m. Officials found the child unresponsive in a nearby creek, said Deputy Sheriff John Wildhaber, an agency spokesperson.

Officers and Clackamas Fire emergency personnel started CPR and transported the child to a Portland-area hospital by Life Flight helicopter, but sadly, they did not survive.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the child who passed away today,” Molalla Mayor Scott Keyser said in a public Facebook post Tuesday. “My heart also goes out to all the first responders who were on this call today. Sad day for everyone.”

The sheriff’s office is investigating the death, Wildhaber said, along with the Molalla Police Department.
