A series of Pacific storms will bring a mix of ice, snow and freezing rain to much of the Portland metro region Thursday and into Friday, meteorologists predict.
Another round of frozen wintery precipitation is expected to blanket the region starting Friday night and into Saturday.
Rain Thursday is expected to change to snow or freezing rain in the afternoon — with snow more likely for areas to east and north of Portland, and mixed precipitation predicted west and south, according to the National Weather Service.

Total snow accumulations of two to six inches, with ice accumulations of 0.10 to 0.20 inches possible in Canby and the surrounding areas. Winds gusting 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph near the Gorge later Thursday afternoon through Friday.
Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the wind or ice. Drivers should proceed with caution on potentially icy roads.

Temperatures will be falling Thursday afternoon, dropping into the 20s Thursday night. With the gusty winds, wind chill values of 10 to 20 degrees are expected that evening.
A warming center is being set up at Zoar Lutheran Church, 190 Southwest 3rd Ave. in Canby. In Oregon City, shelter may be found at The Father’s Heart Street Ministry, 603 12th St., and in Molalla, the downstairs gymnasium will be open at 920 Shirley St.
Though the idea of a “snow day” no longer holds the allure it once did for local kids, parents should be advised that inclement weather could impact school functions even during distance learning.
