A Portland man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly setting fire to several vehicles at a car dealership in Milwaukie.
Wesley Samuel Kloor, 26, was arrested in the incident, after employees said he had threatened to burn down the car lot the previous day.
Clackamas County deputies responded to the report of a fire at Brooks Motor Co. on Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Deputies arrived to find multiple vehicles ablaze in the secured lot of the car dealership. Clackamas Fire District and Gladstone Fire arrived to extinguish the blazes.
The vehicles had been marked for sale, and most of them were parked next to each other in a line in the center of the car lot, police said. Two additional vehicles were set on fire under a covered roof structure on the lot that was also damaged.
Evidence found at the scene indicated the fires had been deliberately set.
Deputies contacted the owner and an employee, who said a male customer in a wheelchair — later identified as Kloor — had threatened to torch the dealership the previous afternoon and had allegedly thrown a skateboard at an employee and threatened to slit their throat.
As the investigation continued, deputies noticed a man in wheelchair watching from across the street. It turned out to be Wesley Kloor.
Deputies made contact and said the man smelled strongly of accelerant. A search revealed items corresponding to evidence found at the arson scene, police said, as well as a Halloween mask.
Kloor was arrested and booked into Clackamas County Jail on charges of second-degree arson and first-degree criminal mischief. An initial charge of first-degree arson was dismissed, according to online records. Bail is set at $40,000.
