Police Beat for the Week of Jan. 1st-7th

On Jan. 1 at 7:13 p.m., following a traffic stop on Sequoia Parkway, the driver was arrested for driving while suspended and possession of methamphetamine; and the passenger was taken into custody for possession of heroin. A third individual, who had been left at a store where all three were previously seen attempting to steal items, was located and arrested for possession of methamphetamine, and for a probation violation.

On Jan. 2 at 12:32 a.m., officers directed a man to remove a tent he had set up at City Park on SW Berg Parkway and notified him he was trespassed from the location.

Later that day, at 10:59 p.m., an intoxicated man entered a store on SE First Avenue and advised an employee that he wanted to turn himself in to police. Yeah, drinking makes me feel all guilty and honest, too, man. Officers were called to the location, and sure enough, he was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.

On Jan. 3 at 2:18 a.m., officers made contact with a heavily intoxicated person, who had crashed on North Maple Street. The guy was, uh, trying to free his vehicle from some rocks. Police said his perception of the time and what was happening was greatly distorted. The driver was transported to a medical facility and then arrested for DUII and Reckless Driving.

Later that day, at 3:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious person hiding under a parked railroad car on SE First Avenue. Wow, that’s a bold hide and seek move right there. Go big or go home. Officers transported the individual to a detoxing facility.

Finally on Jan. 7 at 6:55 a.m., officer responded to a single vehicle crash on North Hollywood Street, involving a passenger truck that had rolled over on its side. The driver said he believed the crash was due to icy road conditions.
