On Feb. 6, officers investigated and located a juvenile who had reportedly been selling drugs to other minors. The juvenile was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance.
At 3 p.m. that day, officers stopped a driver who was observed talking on her cellphone. As it turned out, she had a suspended license, as well as methamphetamine and heroin in her possession. She was taken into custody for possession of controlled substances and endangering the welfare of her minor child. And that is why you don’t talk on your cellphone while driving! And also, uh, you know, maybe don’t traffic illegal drugs?
At 6:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to a home where a domestic argument had reportedly occurred but the involved parties did not want to press charges.
You know I love a good scam story. On Feb.7 at 3:28 p.m., officers responded to a report of an attempted fraud after a suspect attempted to write a check for more than the price of the items they were purchasing, then asked if the clerk would give them the difference in cash. I assume the clerk advised them of this thing called a “bank” that might be able to help them out with that.
Here’s another one. At 8:19 p.m. that same day, victims reported receiving several emails from a person posing as their clergy, asking them to purchase gift cards for people in need. Yeah, I mean, that’s great, but they probably would have become suspicious when their “pastor” asked them to send the gift cards to Nigeria or whatever instead of, you know, their local church.
On Feb. 8 at 3:37 p.m., gasp, it happened again. A cellphone was found on NE Second Avenue and turned in to police. Officers were able to locate the owner and advised them to retrieve the device. No word, though, on if it was an iPhone or not. We need these details, Canby PD!
Finally, on Feb. 11 at 11:47 a.m., an uninsured vehicle was stopped on South Berg Parkway. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license. His passenger was also arrested, on an outstandin’ arrest warrant from Mississippi.
