PHOTOS: Tractor-Trailer Crashes through Fence on Highway 99E in Oregon City

One southbound of lane of Highway 99E in Oregon City was temporarily closed this morning, due to a tractor-trailer that left the roadway and crashed through a fence — nearly going over the cliff into the Willamette River near Willamette Falls.

No injuries were reported in the single-vehicle crash.

“If I were that driver, I’d be going home to change my pants,” said KATU’s Mike Warner (TMI, Mike), who was one of the first on the scene, and who speculated that the driver might have been going too fast to safely navigate the turn.

The crash occurred near 6th Street, just south of the Arch Bridge.

Oregon City Police, Clackamas Fire District and the Oregon Department of Transportation had cleared the incident by 8 a.m., though delays should still be expected as investigators continue to work the scene.

No official statements as to the cause of the crash have been released.
