Tyler Nizer, longtime marketing manager for the Clackamas County Fairgrounds and immediate past president of the Canby Area Chamber Board of Directors, will serve as the new economic development and tourism lead for the City of Canby, replacing Calvin LeSueur, who stepped down from the position last summer.
Nizer is a Canby native and will bring years of experience in marketing, working with vendors and coordinating large events to his new role with the city. He said in a press release that he is excited to serve Canby in this new capacity.
“This community is where I was raised, and where I am raising my own family,” he said. “I look forward to working with the businesses and organizations who work tirelessly to make Canby a wonderful place and using new resources to continue its growth.”
Nizer worked for the Clackamas County Fairgrounds and Event Center for four years. His previous experience includes stints with Hope Village and the Canby Herald. He served as president of the Canby Area Chamber of Commerce in 2021.
“I am thrilled to have Tyler join the city’s Economic Development Department,” said Canby Economic Development Director Jamie Stickel. “I have worked with him in many capacities over the last six years. I believe his energy and efforts are the right blend to take the city’s economic development and tourism efforts into the future.”
Nizer’s first day with the city will be Monday, February 14. The economic development and tourism coordinator is tasked with coordinating events and promotions, small business outreach and development, and marketing Canby to residents and visitors.
