Some nighttime striping is on tap throughout the county in the coming weeks, as crews work to avoid disrupting increasingly heavy volumes of traffic during the day. Operations are planned to start tonight, depending on weather and other conditions. Workers will be on the job for up to a week from 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. on the following projects:
No significant traffic delays are expected. Workers will cone off the work zone to keep traffic away. Travelers are asked to slow down, use caution near the work zone and be mindful of the traveling distance following the striping truck so as to not get paint on vehicles.
On the flip side, I-5 paving operations between Woodburn and Salem has been put on hold to accommodate the increased traffic due to the state fair, which kicked off this past weekend.
The work will be halted until Sept. 3, after which, nighttime paving and lane closures will resume. While the work is ongoing, travelers will see night time lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays from Sunday night to Friday morning. Delays of up to 30 minutes should be anticipated.
Paving the 12 mile section of I-5 between Woodburn and Salem is now almost 75 percent complete. The project is scheduled for completion in October.
