New ‘Great Gatsby’-Themed Event to Recreate Spirit of the Roaring Twenties in Canby

A “Roaring Good Time” is on tap at Gwynn’s Coffeehouse this Saturday. That’s the tagline for a new, Great Gatsby-themed event that aims to recreate the spirit of the Roaring Twenties right here in Canby.

Food, drinks, local vendors, raffle prizes, live music by the One Eyed Kats and an (optional) costume contest from 7 to 9:30. Be advised: this speak-easy is only for those 21 and older.

“Dress up for a swanky night on the town with your best pearls, boas, and beaded flapper dresses, or be a Jean Harlow, Mae West, Carole Lombard or Greta Garbo to name a few,” says organizer Donna Bryant. “Or wear your best suit, suspenders and fedora as a tribute to prohibition bootleggers, not to mention the likes of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Rudolph Valentino or Howard Hughes.”

Admission is $15, plus a donation of one non-perishable food item. All proceeds benefit The Canby Center food bank.
