Man Arrested for Murder in Fatal Shooting at Milwaukie Strip Club

A Portland man was arrested Friday afternoon after Clackamas County authorities say he shot and killed someone outside a Milwaukie-area strip club.

Police arrested 25-year-old Ryan Ted Newman Jr. in connection with the crime. He was booked at the Clackamas County Jail.

The shooting occurred at the Gold Club, an adult entertainment venue located on SE McLoughlin Boulevard in an unincorporated urban area of Clackamas County, at approximately 2:45 p.m. Friday

The club was not open to the public at the time. Police say it appeared workers were there for remodeling, and investigators believe one worker fatally shot another.

At 2:45 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2020, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting that had just occurred at the Gold Club, located at 17180 SE McLoughlin Blvd. in unincorporated Clackamas County.

Deputies took the suspect shooter, Newman, into custody without incident shortly after arriving on scene.

Clackamas Fire District No. 1 and American Medical Response also responded to the scene. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead upon arrival. Police later identified the victim as 24-year-old Nathaniel Mateo Acosta, of Yelm, Wash.

A chaplain and volunteers from the Trauma Intervention Program were asked to deploy to the scene to assist those who witnessed the shooting.
