‘Lobby Hero’ Opens at CCC

Clackamas Community College’s Theatre Department opens the Main Stage Production season with a fall performance of “Lobby Hero.”

Written by Kenneth Lonergan, the Tony Award-nominated play follows Jeff, a young security guard who finds himself in a dilemma over a murder case implicating the brother of his supervisor. Adding to Jeff’s confusion is his attraction to a rookie police officer who is in a complicated relationship with her partner. The play works to explore racial profiling, sexual harassment and police corruption, all in the confines of an apartment building lobby.

Under the direction of James Eikrem, “Lobby Hero” features an ensemble of CCC students and community members with scenic and lighting design by Chris Whitten, and costumes by Gina Piva.

Opening night is 6: 30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, and includes a reception with refreshments and music provided by CCC’s Jazz Combo under the direction of Music Department Chair Lars Campbell. Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays, Nov. 8-18, 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. All performances are in the Niemeyer Osterman Theatre, 19600 Molalla Ave., Oregon City.

Tickets are $11 for adults, $9 for seniors and $5 (or pay-what-you-can at the door) for students. There will also be a 10 a.m. pay-what-you-can matinee Friday, Nov. 16.

“Lobby Hero” contains mature themes and strong language.
