High School Juniors and Seniors Can Jump Start their College Education at CCC — Tuition-Free

Current high school juniors and seniors in Clackamas County have been invited to jump start their college degree through Clackamas Community College’s Summer Scholars program — tuition free.

Students can earn up to 12 college credits, taking general education requirements online during an eight-week summer term June 22-Aug. 14. Course options include biology, chemistry, college algebra, calculus, English composition, French, Spanish, history of Western civilization, public speaking, personal health and sociology.

“Students who enroll in the Summer Scholar program will accelerate their college education while saving both time and money,” Jaime Clarke, CCC director of the office of education partnerships, said.

CCC will waive the tuition for the classes, leaving students responsible for only course fees and books — a savings of more than $2,000 compared to a public four-year university, the college noted in a press release.

Registration for the Summer Scholars program is limited to 100 students, and the deadline to sign up is May 1. For more information about the program and how to register, visit www.clackamas.edu/summer-scholars-program. For questions, contact Jaime Clarke at 503-594-3161 or hsconnections@clackamas.edu.
