The Friends of the Canby Public Library is inviting the Canby community to participate in a new event this holiday season: the Canby Christmas Tour of Lights.
A modified version of the local nonprofit’s pre-Covid Christmas Tour of Homes, in which local homeowners invited participants into their residences, this outdoor, socially distanced event will instead invite families to take a self-guided tour of some of the best holiday light displays in Canby.
For $10, participants will receive a map and the ability to vote for their favorite displays, with the winning homeowners taking home prizes from Holiday Light Solution, Puddin’ River Chocolates and The Book Nook.
On the night of the event, December 17, the route will also feature added goodies and festive fun including carolers, hot cocoa, snow — and maybe even Saint Nick himself.
“We are excited to invite our community to join in this fun, festive event that we believe will showcase the small-town magic that makes Christmas in Canby so special,” said Friends chairwoman Lois Brooks. “We are grateful to our sponsors and members, and to all the homeowners who are working hard to make the season bright.”
If you are a homeowner interested in being part of the tour and potentially winning a prize, fill out the Friends’ brief interest form at surveymonkey.com/r/CanbyXmasTour.
Tickets are $10, with all proceeds benefiting free educational and cultural programming and materials from Friends of the Canby Public Library. A family may attend the tour with just one ticket, but you will need to purchase multiple ones if you would like each member of the group to have their own vote.
Tickets may be purchased at canbychristmastour.com, or visit the Friends’ website and select “CHRISTMAS TOUR” from the drop-down menu.
