Friends of the Canby Public Library is again giving the gift of reading to more than 100 local children this year.
The local nonprofit will be giving away free books at three locations in and around town: The Book Nook, 294 Northwest 2nd Avenue; Swan Island Dahlias, 995 Northwest 22nd Avenue; and the Canby Public Library, 220 Northeast 2nd Avenue.
Two titles will be available: A Frog in the Bog for preschool-age through 8 years old, and Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin for ages 8 to 11.
Written by Karma Wilson and illustrated by Joan Rankin, A Frog in the Bog is a lyrical and playful read-aloud from the author of New York Times bestseller Bear Snores On.
Rhythmic, humorous and educational (the story teaches children to count from one to five), A Frog in the Bog is the perfect story for young and soon-to-be readers.
In Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, Grace Lin, author of the beloved Year of the Dog and Year of the Rat, returns with a wondrous story of adventure, faith and friendship.
A fantasy crossed with Chinese folklore, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is a timeless story reminiscent of The Wizard of Oz and Kelly Barnhill’s The Girl Who Drank the Moon. Her beautiful illustrations, printed in full-color, accompany the text throughout.
Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is a charming, engaging book for young readers.
Books will be available starting December 6. No purchase necessary but supplies are limited.
