Free Workshop to Celebrate Watershed Health Through Art

Clackamas Water Environment Services and a local artist are inviting the public to join them for a free online workshop and learn basic drawing techniques, culminating with a finished graphite drawing of a natural organism from our ecosystem.

Using art and storytelling, artist, educator and conservationist David Raphael Andersen will engage community members to listen, observe and learn about their thoughts and feelings related to the health of the county’s watersheds.

At this workshop, Andersen will guide participants through a number of techniques, concluding with a drawing of a native plant or animal from the Clackamas County area. The session is open to beginning and advanced artists: The only requirement is a passion for learning!

Participants will also help shape a future mural at the Clackamas Water Environment Services Tri-City Water Resource Recovery Facility. The county says the mural will become an iconic educational emblem celebrating local watersheds — a physical reminder of the importance of protecting watershed health and addressing environmental challenges for generations to come.

The session will be conducted via Zoom from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 12. Registration is available via EventBrite.

The workshop is sponsored by Clackamas Water Environment Services, Clackamas Community College and the PGE Renewable Development Fund.
