Fire Breaks Out in Crawl Space of Home on North Ivy Street

A difficult-to-reach fire broke out underneath a single-story home in the 900 block of North Ivy Street this afternoon.

Canby Fire District Paramedic Division Chief Matt Dale says the fire was isolated in the crawl space and units were able to prevent it from involving the entire structure. Firefighters had to use axes and other tools to gain access.

Residents were home when the fire broke out, but the structure was quickly evacuated, Dale says. No one was injured. He did not believe any pets or other animals were involved.

Aurora Fire, Clackamas Fire and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue assisted on the call. Traffic is closed on North Ivy between 8th and 10th while crews work the scene.
