Deputies with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen Sea-Doo boat and two Sea-Doo jet skis last week in separate incidents.
The first resulted in the arrest of a Molalla man whose pursuit began after an alleged hit-and-run in the parking lot of Timberline Lodge. The suspect — later identified as Kole Michael Crane, 22, of Molalla — drove off in a white Ram truck pulling a boat.
Deputies were able to link the incident to a report of a stolen Ram truck and Sea-Doo boat in Oak Grove. There was a gun in the truck when it was stolen out of Oak Grove — causing additional concern for responding deputies.
Police spotted the stolen truck and boat around 4 p.m. Friday as it was traveling west on Highway 26 toward Sandy. Oregon State Police troopers assist Clackamas County in the pursuit, which ended when Crane ran over spikes that deputies had deployed to deflate his tires.
The truck came to a safe stop shortly after. Several deputies and troopers took Crane into custody without further incident. The stolen firearm was located inside the truck.
Crane was arrested on a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle. The stolen truck, boat and firearm were returned to their owner.
Early Saturday morning, a Sheriff’s Office deputy contracted to Wilsonville Police spotted a Ford Explorer pulling a pair of Sea-Doo jet skis. There were no working lights on the trailer.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop, but the SUV attempted to flee and pulled onto I-5 southbound at Wilsonville Rd. Deputies pursued the SUV onto Highway 551 toward Aurora.
During the pursuit, the suspect driver and passenger began throwing bottles out of the sunroof of the Explorer, trying to hit the patrol car. The SUV then drove off the road and came to a stop in a hop field. The adult white male driver and adult white female passenger then fled the scene.
Deputies requested a CCSO K9 team but were unable to locate the two suspects. The pair of Sea-Doo jet skis were confirmed to be stolen and later returned to their owner.
