The Clackamas County Climate Action Plan Community Advisory Task Force will meet this week to discuss the preliminary draft climate action plan, which will be released for public comment in early February.
Development of the climate action plan includes gathering data on current carbon emissions, modeling future emissions and lots of conversations with county residents and businesses on how best to move forward to carbon neutrality together.
The final report is expected to be presented to the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners late this spring.
The task force is made up of 24 people who represent various communities, stakeholder groups and areas of expertise from throughout the county.
They are charged with helping develop a climate action plan to reach the county’s goal of being carbon neutral — a state that typically involves both reducing or eliminating carbon dioxide emissions as well as offsetting emissions by planting trees and investing in renewable energy — by 2050.
The task force’s next meeting will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, January 26, on Zoom. Members of the public are welcome to listen in and comment during the public comment portion of the agenda.
This is the 11th meeting of the task force since July 2021. Information about the meeting, including the Zoom link and background materials, is available online at clackamas.us/sustainability/climateaction.
