The coronavirus pandemic has been a double whammy for many of the area’s nonprofits: greatly increased demand — plus the loss of the ability to hold traditional fundraising events.
That includes two annual events that have traditionally been hosted by the Women of the Wilamette Valley Country Club: a spring luncheon benefitting the Friends of the Canby Public Library and a holiday luncheon for The Canby Center.
Both typically raise thousands for the two community nonprofits. Both were canceled this year in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Fortunately, thanks to the generosity of the country club and its members, a modified fundraiser is being planned for next month to raise funds for both organizations: the Friendsgiving Fundraiser & Golf Tournament.
“Our community need is greater than ever, especially for our most vulnerable,” said tournament committee chair Laura Baldonado in a message to potential sponsors. “We would like to help provide funds to The Canby Center to provide food, clothing, lunches, tutoring and other needs for our youth and their families.
“We would also like to help the Friends of the Canby Library provide reading programs, book purchases and special needs for children and teens.”
The fundraiser will be held on the morning of Nov. 7 at the Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby. The tournament is open to WVCC members and their guests. Register online at ForeTees.
