At Denny’s in Canby they say come on in and beat the heat. You can stay up to an hour without buying anything, just to cool off. Customers think that’s nice. I bet they’ll give you a glass of water, too. @KGWNews pic.twitter.com/V65qjMcevz

Other tips for staying safe and cool in the sweltering weather:

  • Avoid the sun and strenuous activity.
  • Wear a wide-brimmed hat and light-colored, lightweight and loose-fitting clothes.
  • If you don’t have air conditioning, take a cool shower twice a day and visit a public air-conditioned facility.
  • Drink plenty of fluids, even if you are not thirsty. Those on fluid-restricted diets or taking diuretics should first consult their physician.
  • Stay in shaded areas whenever working outdoors.
  • Be sure your pets have plenty of water and shaded areas.
  • Help us build a sustainable news organization to serve Canby for generations to come! Let us know if you can support our efforts to expand our operations and keep all of our content paywall-free. #SwimWithTheCurrent!
