Dangerously dry conditions continue to be a concern for Clackamas County fire officials, as crews were called to yet another brush fire Wednesday evening — this time near Highway 224 south of Damascus.
When Clackamas Fire first arrived at approximately 4:30 p.m., the fire was roughly one acre in size.
At one point, the flames had climbed up into a few trees, according to officials.
Firefighters began an initial attack and quickly knocked down the fire and placed a wet line around the fire stopping it from spreading to other nearby trees and underbrush.
Firefighters remained at the scene through the night to monitor the situation and make sure the fire does not rekindle.
No homes or structures were lost during the fire, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, however, fire officials are actively investigating it.
Clackamas Fire cautioned nearby residents that smoke will be in the area for the next few days.
Fire officials remind that a countywide burn ban is in effect until further notice.
