Children’s Clothing Resale Store Opens in Downtown Canby

Little Love Resale, a new baby and children’s clothing consignment boutique has opened at The Dahlia in downtown Canby.

Owner Rachel Provencher, who grew up in Canby and currently lives in West Linn, said the store is a longtime dream of hers as well as something the community needs.

“I have always loved the idea of a consignment store,” she explained. “I have two kids of my own and realized how quickly they grow out of their clothes and how expensive clothes are. And Canby is really in desperate need of some children’s clothing stores.”

In addition to clothing for boys and girls up to size 14, the store will carry a selection of books, toys, baby gear and much more. It will also feature some work from local makers and crafters.

“I’m hoping to highlight some crafting moms that make baby items, clothes, accessories and other things like that,” Provencher said.

Mary Hanlon, founder and principal of Hanlon Development — which is the managing member of The Dahlia and is leading the redevelopment of the Canby Civic Block — told the Current the development is “thrilled” to welcome the new store.

“Little Love Resale is a woman-owned local business,” she said. “Ms. Provencher is specifically targeting children and families, and her business is an active retail use. A perfect fit for the Civic Block redevelopment goals. We are so glad she is filling this space and hope the community enthusiastically supports their newest arrival.”

The news comes barely a month after Tin & Paisley opened a new location offering women’s clothing and fashion items just a couple blocks away at the Holly Mall.

“It’s super exciting,” Provencher said. “I love that there are a lot of great businesses nearby. The downtown area has kind of blossomed into a fun place to be, and we hope to add to that experience down here. We hope to be a great addition to the community for local families and help people stay in the downtown area.”

The opening of Little Love Resale also marks the final buildout of The Dahlia, an ambitious redevelopment project meant to be an economic anchor for downtown Canby, but which was slow to find commercial tenants when it was completed in August 2018.

It was more than a year before Wayward Sandwiches, a locally owned specialty sandwich and wine shop, became the project’s first commercial tenant to open in October 2019.

But less than three years later, The Dahlia boasts a restaurant, a cafe, two retail stores and a physical therapy clinic, and its 69 studio and one-bedroom apartments are fully leased.

“We started the negotiations with the city in 2015, opened The Dahlia toward the end of 2018 and now, we are 100% leased,” Hanlon said. “It is a long but satisfying process. Canby is an amazing community and we are thrilled to be a part of the revitalization of the historic downtown.”

Little Love Resale accepts cash and will offer store credit. Its first day will be May 4, and the store will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
