Canby Wrestling Sends Eight to OSAA Regional High School Girls’ Wrestling Tournament

The OSAA North Regional Tournament for high school girl wrestlers was held this weekend, and Canby Wrestling sent eight hopefuls: Marisol Rosiles-Malagon, Nancy Garcia, Bella Flores, Elsie Cobarrubias, Martha Perez, Havvy Ehrich, Lexi Zoriaga and Yared Calderon.

All performed well in a sport that is relatively new to all of them. The highest finishers were a fifth-place by Ehrich and a sixth-place by Calderon, who both made it to the consolation rounds of their respective brackets in their first-ever regional tournament appearances.

In boys’ wrestling last week, Canby defeated Tualatin handily, by a final score of 47 to 23. Top performers included Landon Sprague, Ethan Ensrud, Asher Chafee, Tate Leder and K’den McMullen, who all won by pin.
