The Canby Cougar wrestling squad continued their dominant start by winning the Rick Herrin Holiday Classic at McKay High School on Saturday night.

The Cougars competed against 15 other teams — ranging from Jefferson to Tillamook — and easily captured the runaway victory, posting 219 points, which was nearly 45 more than second-place South Salem.

Two Cougars, Craig Williams and Ty Ewers, were named individual champions, winning their weight class outright in the tournament. Williams won the 120 class over Hunter Downs-Getchell of South Salem, winning by fall three minutes in.

Meanwhile, Ewers was victorious in the 126 class, beating Oscar Doces of Wells by a majority 14-1 decision.

The second-place Saxons of South Salem had three individual victors, as Aundre Chacon (113), Rene Cruz (138), and Anton Chacon (160) all won their respective events.
