The Canby Police Department and partnering law enforcement agencies made nearly 140 stops in one day earlier this month as part of a heightened traffic safety detail.
According to a Facebook post, the purpose of the November 17 traffic safety detail was to raise awareness about traffic laws and increase safety for motorists traveling through Canby.
During the operation, police made 139 contacts for different violations, including speeding, operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile communication device, failure to obey a traffic control device and other violations of Oregon traffic code.
Officers also made one arrest for operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile communication device (third offense), and one vehicle was towed for driving while suspended and uninsured.
“We would like to thank Katie Alexander at C-COM for dedicating an entire shift to dispatch for the officers working the detail,” Canby Police said in the November 22 post.
Officials also thanked the partnering agencies who assisted in the operation, including the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon City Police Department, Milwaukie Police Department, Wilsonville Police Department, Happy Valley Police Department, Lake Oswego Police Department, and West Linn Police Department.
