Canby Cougar Swimmers Have Strong Showing in Ladies Only Meet

Canby Cougars swam against St. Mary’s on Jan. 17 for a ladies only meet.  The Cougars hosted, but St. Mary’s finished the meet with a win by a score of 97 to 73. Despite the disappointing result, the Canby team is making progress and had their share of top swims.

Canby finished 1st and 2nd in the first race of the meet the 200 Medley Relay. Mairen Chard, Erin Meredith, Kira Goepferd and Kylie Hester finished in a time of 1:59.83. While the team of Emma Vandecoevering, Imani Robinson, Alora Robbins, and Natalie Doman edged out the St. Mary’s team in a time of 2:12.63.

Mairen Chard finished first in the 100 fly and 100 back with times of 1:01.61 and 1:02.41. Kylie Hester finished first in both the 50 and 100 free, swimming to times of 26.02 and 58.55.

Natalie Doman finished 3rd in the 50 free with a time of 29.48. Kira Goepferd was 3rd in the 100 back with a 1:09.04. Erin Meredith was 2nd in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:18.51 and was 3rd in the 200 IM. Alora Robbins finished 3rd in both the 100 and 200 freestyle. 

Canby Boys did swim as a practice meet, and were able to swim some different events. This turned out to help as they gear up for Oregon City Next week.  Oregon City will be at the Canby Swim Center at 4pm Thursday, Jan. 24.
