Canby Boys Basketball Finishes Strong at Home Tourney

The Canby boys basketball team came up big over the holiday break, claiming third place in the Canby tournament with a huge victory over Lakeridge.

The Cougars smashed their competition in the decisive third-place game, 54-36. Super sophomores Chance Miller (15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists) and Diego Arredondo (12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals) led the way.

The victory put a nice bow on two strong holiday tournament performances for the Cougs, in which they finished 3-2, to make their record 5-5 on the season. They’ll hit the road on Friday to face McMinnville in their final, non-league game, before league play kicks off Tuesday vs. Tigard.

The girls had a tougher time at their tournament showings, losing both appearances in the Elite 8 at Tigard High School, dropping them to 4-5 overall. They’ll have the chance to get back to .500 on Friday as they wrap up non-league play at home against Beaverton. Catch the action starting at 7 p.m.
