The Canby Fire District’s emergency medical response to a pickup that crashed into the Canby Auto Import building on Highway 99E Wednesday morning was complicated by two house fires the agency was assisting on in Molalla that same morning.
The first one broke out before midnight Tuesday on Adams Road, southeast of town, with firefighters from Molalla and Canby on scene for a couple hours.
Canby Fire Capt. Jason Wanner sustained a knee injury during the response and was treated and released early Wednesday morning.
Canby Fire Chief Jim Davis said Wanner will see a specialist for further evaluation.
The second call was a two-alarm fire reported at 4:40 a.m. in the 14000 block of South Buckner Creek Road. Units from Molalla, Canby, Clackamas, Colton and Aurora responded to find a two-story home, heavily involved.

“The wind at the time was very strong, causing a wind-driven fire,” Davis said in an email.
There were no hydrants and the nearest water fill site was more than three miles away, Davis said.
No residents or firefighters were injured in the Buckner Creek blaze. Fire personnel also rescued two dogs, two cats and two chickens.
Crews remained on the scene until late in the morning.
Both fires started in the chimneys or wood-burning stoves. Officials remind homeowners to perform stove and chimney inspections and service on an annual basis.
